METAGENICS
INC. PLEDGES $264,000 GIFT TO CCNM
Toronto, July
31, 2003
Metagenics
Inc has committed $264,000 in a partnership with The Canadian College
of Naturopathic Medicine to fund four new initiatives at the college
over a five-year period. David Schleich, B.Ed, MA, EdD (candidate),
President of CCNM, is delighted with this partnership. “It
is imperative for CCNM to ally with companies who not only understand
the rapid changes occurring in the natural medicine sector, but
are active participants in that shift,” he says.
A major beneficiary
of the funding is The Metagenics Visiting Elders Program, designed
to introduce students and doctors to 40 elders over five years.
Components of these visits will be videotaped and included in The
Metagenics Collection, an educational electronic library. The Metagenics
Suite will be built at CCNM and be made available to visiting elders
and other speakers supporting the curriculum and assisting the college
in its complementary medicine affiliations. Metagenics will also
contribute to the Naturopathic Student Association’s (NSA)
annual “Unity Project”, encouraging networking and unity
among naturopathic practitioners by supporting the Metagenics Fall
and Winter Orientations and the Annual Spring Handover Seminar for
student governments. The Metagenics Annual Emergency Medicine Scholarship
Fund will also be established offering students the opportunity
to attend a two-week emergency medicine program in Connecticut.
“We look
forward to sharing these exciting new projects with the faculty
and students at CCNM,” said Jeffrey Bland, PhD, FACN, President
and Chief Science Officer, Metagenics Inc.
